ArkansasSports360.com passes along a source who says they saw Cliff Lee and Nolan Ryan meeting at the Copper Grill in Lee's home base in Little Rock, Arkansas. Yankees GM Brian Cashman made a similar trip last week to recruit Lee, who New York Post columnist Joel Sherman recently called "even more of a last-dollar mercenary" than Mark Teixeira.
ESPN New York on Lee's asking price:
Lee is believed to be asking teams for a contract that is similar to CC Sabathia's seven-year, $161 million pact with the Yankees.
The Washington Nationals are among the additional teams who have publicly stated an interest in Lee.
Lee paid off for the Rangers in the divisional and league playoff rounds, throwing 24 innings in three starts and allowing just two runs. He was much more ordinary in the World Series against the Giants, totaling 11.2 innings in his two starts and allowing nine earned runs.
