Vlad Still Starting?

New, 2 comments

Evan Grant indicates that Vladimir Guerrero will still be starting game two in right field.

I don’t even understand this. Guerrero looked even worse than most probably imagined last night, and there was no reason to expect him to be good. He cannot cover ground anymore, and right field in San Francisco is a lot of ground to cover. On top of that, he showed an inability to use a glove, and his awful defense gave the Giants a handful of extra bases they wouldn’t have had otherwise. If tonight is a close game, that could be the difference.

Once again, David Murphy is not only a better fielder but a better hitter against right handed pitching. Matt Cain is right handed. Guerrero would be a solid pinch hit option against a lefty reliever. There is no reason to have Vladimir Guerrero playing.

This is a nightmare. Why doesn’t someone do something to stop this?

Dave Cameron agrees.
