The Rangers’ historic run has a lot of us ignoring the Cowboys (at least as much as we can), but, in case you forgot, they play tonight. And, unbelievably, it’s a meaningful game.
↵Thanks to the Titans getting to 3-0 against the NFC East with a win against the Eagles (the Cowboys are the only team in the division that’s played them close so far), Dallas could win tonight and end up just a game and a half behind the division leaders. I still believe they’re the most talented roster in the division, and a 1.5 deficit with only the Redskins holding the head-to-head tie breaker (and the other half of that match up coming in Dallas) can be made up if they can just play with some discipline and and better game planning.
↵I don’t, unfortunately, have high hopes for getting another 11 weeks of that from this team. AccuScore, however, is startlingly optimistic about the first week of that stretch, giving the game to the Cowboys 62% of the time tonight. Brian Burke, whose writings should be required reading for NFL fans, is not as optimistic, however. He’s got the Cowboys winning 47% of the time. At least it’s close to a toss-up. Tonight decides if I go back to holding on to faint hope for this team or if I’m going to continue to watch them with faint interest in meaningless wins.
↵Hopefully AccuScore is right. We’ll see.
