Iowa State Cyclones Upset Texas, Give Longhorns Third Loss

Austin, TX (Sports Network) – Alexander Robinson rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries as Iowa State posted its first-ever victory over 22nd-ranked Texas, taking a 28-21 decision at Memorial Stadium.

Austen Arnaud threw for a pair of scores despite completing only 11-of-23 passes with an interception for the Cyclones (4-4, 2-2 Big 12), who rebounded in impressive fashion from a 52-0 pasting at Oklahoma last Saturday.

Darius Reynolds and Josh Lenz each caught a touchdown pass for Iowa State, which beat its conference rival for the first time in eight tries.

Garrett Gilbert was 34-of-57 for 344 yards and two touchdowns, but was intercepted three times for the Longhorns (4-3, 2-2), who failed to capitalize on the momentum of a 20-13 victory over Nebraska last week which vaulted the program back into the Top 25.

John Chiles led all receivers with 117 yards with a score on five catches, Malcolm Williams also added a TD reception but Tre’ Newton was held to 43 yards on nine carries.
