In the series preview, I had the Rangers losing game one half of the time but still winning the series plenty often.
↵There is no way I can make what just happened feel good, that was horrific. I’m not going to pretend that winning that game wouldn’t have put the Rangers powerfully in control. However, that was one of the three games in which the Yankees don’t look like clear underdogs. Losing it would have been more damaging for the Yankees than it would have been for the Rangers.
↵Absolutely the Rangers are now underdogs in the series. But they also still absolutely have a chance. As a quick estimate, the Rangers still win the series more than a third of the time in the simulation if you give game one to the Yankees. If they win tomorrow, it’s almost completely back to where it was before the series started. It’s not even close to over, and that sucked to watch but it’s just one game. One game where the other teams’ best pitcher looked awful, the bullpen got worked and the Rangers’ second or third best pitcher looked great.
↵Brutal to watch, but not yet time to feel defeated.
↵And that’s all I think I feel like saying about what I just witnessed.
