Mets May Ask Permission To Speak To Jon Daniels About GM Vacancy

New, 2 comments

According to Ken Rosenthal, the New York Mets are considering asking permission to talk to Rangers GM Jon Daniels about the GM vacancy in Queens.

Daniels has an opt out clause in his contract with the Rangers that can be exercised because of the change in ownership over the summer. Chuck Greenberg, however, says that he wants Daniels to remain with the Rangers and would like to sign him to a contract extension.

The Mets, of course, have a vacancy at GM after the firing of Omar Minaya. In addition to Daniels, the Mets have targeted assistant general managers Logan White of the Dodgers, Rick Hahn of the White Sox and former general managers Allard Barid and Sandy Alderson.
