Martin Perez Roughed Up In Venezuelan Winter League Debut

Heralded left handed prospect Martin Perez made his VWL debut last night and the results were not too thrilling.

Perez started the game but could not escape the second inning, lasting only an inning and a third while yielding six runs on six hits and a walk while striking out one.

Obviously, it’s a really small sample size that even Kevin Goldstein points out. Still, it’s discouraging to see. Perez has been young for his levels this year, pitching in AA and now the VWL, so hopefully he’ll take his lumps in stride instead of having a mental self-destruction.
