Los Angeles Angels right fielder Torii Hunter hit a two-run double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Angels a 5-4 victory over the Texas Rangers in the first game of a doubleheader. The Angels' win on Sunday tightened things up in the American League West and Wild Card races.
The Rangers took a 4-1 lead by scoring a pair of runs in the second and third innings. Nelson Cruz hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second, and Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre had RBIs in the third. Beltre finished the day 2 for 3 and was the only Ranger with more than one hit.
Los Angeles began its comeback with a sacrifice fly from Kendrys Morales in the top of the sixth. Mike Trout hit a solo home run in the seventh to cut the Texas lead to 4-3. With two outs in the ninth, Hunter put the Angels on top.
With four games to play, the Rangers hold a two-game lead over the Athletics in the AL West. The teams meet up in Oakland on Monday to begin the final series of the regular season.
