Yu Darvish Perfect Game Broken Up In 5th

Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish was perfect against Kansas City through 5-and-2/3 innings of play on Monday before the Royals finally got going, jumping on Darvish to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

With his Rangers leading 6-0, Darvish walked Johnny Giavotella and gave up a single to Royals outfielder David Lough, who, with Giavotella on third, then stole second. Tony Abreu knocked in the two base-runners with a triple before Alex Gordon doubled to left field, scoring Abreu and giving Kansas City its third run.

The Rangers first got themselves on the board with catcher Geovany Soto's three-run homer in the top of the second inning. Josh Hamilton hit a solo bomb in the third inning to give Texas a 4-0 lead.

Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the sixth to give Darvish the 6-0 cushion.
