The Texas Rangers now know that the equation is simple after Sunday night's come-from-behind win over the Los Angeles Angels: a win gets them a divisionaltitle. Texas heads to Oakland for the final three games of the 2012 MLB season with a two-game lead over the A's. One victory in the three-game series gives them another AL West championship.
Texas did at least clinch a Wild Card berth with the victory. The worst-case scenario for Texas now is getting swept by Oakland, sending the Rangers to a one-game bout with either Baltimore or New York for the American League Wild Card.
Texas' win on Sunday all but eliminated both Los Angeles and Tampa Bay. Both of those teams must sweep Seattle and Baltimore, respectively while hoping Texas sweeps Oakland to secure the No. 2 Wild Card.

The Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels are currently stuck in a two-plus hour rain delay in Arlington. The tarps have been on the field since Friday night's game, and the latest is that the game would not be starting any earlier than 5 p.m. CT, and we are already approaching 30 minutes past that time.
Both teams really want to get this game in today, so that they do not have to make this one up, but if it does have to be rescheduled odds are that the two will play a double-header on Sunday.
If the game is played, Derek Holland will be on the mound for the Rangers and he will be going up against Angels' Ervin Santana. Both teams are fighting for playoff positioning, and playing a double-header on Sunday could mess with their bullpen.
Currently, the rain is pouring in Arlington and the outcome for the game to be played seems bleak. Weather.com has 95 to 100 percent chance of rain from now until 11 p.m., and then after that it drops off to just 70 percent chance of rain.

The Texas Rangers continue their attempt to wrap up the AL West when they resume their weekend series with the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday afternoon.
After losing the opening game of the series on Friday, the magic number for Texas to clinch the AL West remains at three games as they try to hold off the Oakland Athletics. The Rangers are scheduled to start left-hander Derek Holland (11-6, 4.50 ERA) on the mound. Holland is 1-2 against the Angels this season but was impressive in his last start against the Halos on September 19th when he allowed just two runs and six hits in seven innings to earn the win.
Los Angeles is trying to play their way into the playoffs and remains in the hunt for an AL Wild Card spot, just two games behind Oakland. Ervin Santana (9-12, 4.93 ERA) is slated to start for the Angels on the mound. Santana is 1-1 against the Rangers this season after back-to-back starts in late July. The right-hander was strong in his last start when he gave up just two hits and one run in seven innings to beat the Chicago White Sox.
The game is scheduled to start at 3:05 CT and will be televised on FOX.

The Texas Rangers are looking to lock up the A.L. West as they begin a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels. Currently, the Rangers have a four-game lead in the West, and the Angels are six back, but just two in the wild card spot.
This game will not be one that either team will be taking lightly as both are trying to nail down a playoff spot. The Rangers are sending out Ryan Dempster who is 7-2, but has an ERA at 4.48, and can vary form a short outing, like his one two starts ago where he lasted just 3.1 innings, or pitch over six innings which two of his last three starts have lasted. The Rangers would like to have Dempster make it at least five innings.
The Angels are countering with Jared Weaver who is looking for his 20th win of the year, and is the Angels ace. Weaver is a shutdown pitcher who has a very impressive 2.74 ERA.
