Rangers Vs. Mariners: Texas Looks To Avoid Weekend Series Sweep In Seattle

Stay connected for news and updates

The Texas Rangers (89-62), minus Josh Hamilton, will look to avoid a weekend series sweep at the hands of the host Seattle Mariners (72-80) on Sunday. Texas has only been swept once this season in a three-game series.

Ryan Dempster (6-2, 4.70 ERA) will be on the mound for Texas on Sunday. Dempster has made only one other start in his career against Seattle, a 2-0 loss at Safeco Field in July as a member of the Chicago Cubs.

Jason Vargas (14-10, 3.92) will take the hill for Seattle. Vargas has compiled a 6.35 ERA in his last five starts, but has had a strong season at home, going 5-4 with a 2.62 ERA, including 3-1 with a 2.06 ERA in his last six home starts.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. CT from Safeco Field.
