Rangers Vs. Mariners Final Score: Texas Shutout In Seattle, 1-0

The Texas Rangers were shut out by the Seattle Mariners on Saturday night in Seattle, 1-0, wasting a strong performance by Matt Harrison on the mound.

The Oakland A's had lost in extra innings to the New York Yankees earlier in the day, yet the Rangers blew an opportunity to build some space in the A.L. West race. The Rangers still hold onto the best record in the American League, as well as a four-game lead on the A's in the division.

Harrison pitched all eight innings for the Rangers, allowing seven hits while striking out six and walking four.

The Rangers were unable to solve Mariners starting pitcher Blake Beavan, who allowed eight hits in seven innings. Texas had plenty of opportunities to take advantage of several scoring chances, yet the bats failed them for the second night in a row.

Michael Young was 1-for-4 on the night, as was Adrian Beltre and Ian Kinsler. Combined, the Rangers' top four hitters in the lineup stranded 10 batters on the night.

The Rangers will attempt to avoid the sweep in the final game of the series tomorrow, with first pitch set for 3:10 p.m. CT.
