The Texas Rangers nearly blew a 5-1 lead as Cleveland Indians first baseman Casey Kotchman hit a two-run home run off of Rangers reliever Koji Uehara, but Joe Nathan came in and got the final two outs to earn his 28th save as the Rangers ended up winning 5-3.
The Rangers offense was led by Ardian Beltre, who went 4-for-5, scored two runs and had an RBI with three of those hits coming off of Indians starter Ubaldo Jimenez. The offense got off to a hot start as the Rangers scored three runs in the first three innings, which was enough to get the win.
Ryan Dempster had a good outing for the Rangers by going six innings, striking out seven, allowing just two hits and one walk. One run was scored with Dempster on the mound, but it was unearned.
