Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish will miss his Thursday start, and will make his next start on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish will miss his Thursday start, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson.
Darvish complained -- after a bullpen session in between starts -- of a tight right quadriceps. The Rangers have decided to play it safe and move Darvish's next start back to Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Per Wilson, Darvish issued a statement regarding his injury:
Darvish issued a statement, saying that he doesn't not consider himself to be injured. He said that he and the coaching staff determined a few extra days of rest was the best course of action. Darvish first felt discomfort Tuesday toward the end of his bullpen session.
Roy Oswalt will start in Darvish's place on Thursday.
Darvish has been skipped in the rotation on multiple occasions so far in 2012, and the rest seemingly benefits him. In Japan, pitchers have more rest between starts than they do in the United States, so Darvish is used to pitching with extra rest.
