The Texas Rangers look to continue building upon the momentum they found in Toronto as they head back to Arlington for a 10-game homestand, starting off with a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles. The Rangers won two straight against the Blue Jays after losing three of four games in New York against the Yankees.
The Rangers hold onto a five-game lead over Oakland and a commanding nine-game lead over the slumping Angels, while remaining just a game behind the Yankees for the overall lead in the American League standings.
The Baltimore Orioles come to Texas fighting for position in the Wild Card race, and still have a legitimate shot at the AL East crown with a record of 66-55, having won 11 of their last 15 games, including two straight in Detroit.
The trip to Arlington also sees the first return to Texas for Chris Davis, traded to Baltimore last summer.
RHP Ryan Dempster (6-6, 3.12) will take the mound against RHP Miguel Gonzalez (5-2, 3.38) on Monday night. Dempster was scheduled to pitch on Saturday in Toronto, but an issue with his passport reportedly forced the team to push back his start. Dempster has struggled so far since being traded to Texas, allowing 19 runs (16 earned) in just three games with the Rangers. First pitch is set for 7:05 CDT, with coverage on FSSW and ESPN Radio.
RHP Scott Feldman (6-8, 4.63) will face RHP Chris Tillman (5-2, 3.65) on Tuesday. Feldman has lost his last two starts after winning six out of seven starts. Feldman allowed just three runs on seven hits against the Yankees last weekend, and has not allowed more than four runs in his past 10 starts. First pitch is set for 7:05 CDT, with coverage on FSSW and ESPN Radio.
LHP Derek Holland (7-6, 4.98) will take on RHP Tommy Hunter (4-7, 5.49) on Wednesday. This marks Hunter's second start against his former team, allowing four runs in six innings in May. Holland lasted just 5.2 innings against the Yankees in his last start, which included four runs allowed in the sixth after allowing just one hit in the first five innings of the game. First pitch is set for 7:05 CDT, with coverage on FSSW and ESPN Radio.
