Battling sweltering Chicago temperatures for the second consecutive day while trying to avoid being swept in their three-game series against the White Sox, the Texas Rangers were unable to overcome either scenario as they fell 2-1 on Thursday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field.
Despite the heat, the Rangers bats were cold as they managed just two hits in the ball game from Ian Kinsler and Adrian Beltre who registered Texas' lone RBI in the top of the fourth inning that scored the aforementioned Kinsler.
Matt Harrison got the start on the mound for Texas and went eight complete innings and gave up eight hits and both of Chicago's earned runs while walking two batters and striking out five. He gets credited with the loss which brings his record to 11-4 on the season.
Texas will now move on to face the Minnesota Twins at home beginning Friday.
