With the trade deadline looming, the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim meet in Arlington.
With their trade for Zack Greinke, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim showed that even with a five-game deficit in the AL West, they are still gearing up for a run at catching the Texas Rangers. While Greinke won't throw against Texas this week, the Rangers will steal have to deal with many talented arms.
The series opens on Sunday with a matchup between Ervin Santana (4-10, 6.00 ERA) and Roy Oswalt (3-1, 5.22 ERA). Neither pitcher has reached expectations so far this season.
Santana started against Texas nine days ago and got rocked. He gave up six runs and failed to get out of the second inning.
Oswalt has never faced the Angels in his career. He does, however, have a lot of experience with Albert Pujols, who is 26-for-86 against the right-hander with five home runs and 13 RBI.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 CT and the game can be seen on Fox Sports Southwest and ESPN.
