Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta decided to go at Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish with an all-lefty batting lineup on Sunday and it led to a 4-2 victory for the Indians.
Darvish came into the game giving up a .263 batting average to left-handed batters, while holding down right-handed batters to a measly .196 batting average, so the move by Acta proved to be a smart one.
The third inning on Sunday is where the Indians scored their first three runs of the game, but it also exemplified the up-and-down performance that Darvish can be expected to have in his debut season in Major League Baseball.
He started the inning by giving up a single, a walk and a double, but then struck out the next two batters. Then Darvish gave up another hit, and this one scored a run that wasn't on Darvish, rather a fielding error on shortstop Elvis Andrus.
The Indians scored again when Jason Kipnis bombed a solo shot deep to right field. Texas couldn't get any offense going until the eighth inning, when Josh Hamilton brought in a run with a groundout to first base, then Michael Young followed that up with an RBI-single to right field, which made the score 4-2.
With the loss, the Rangers drop to 18-10 while the Indians remain atop the American League Central Division with a 15-11 mark on the season.

The Texas Rangers looked like they were going to come away with a 2-0 win over the Cleveland Indians until the Tribe came through with a clutch eighth inning to put the pressure on Texas.
It took a three-run shot from pinch hitter Adrian Beltre in the 11th inning to give the Rangers a 5-2 victory over the Indians. Ian Kinsler and Mitch Moreland had RBIs in the second and fourth innings, respectively, but that wasn't quite enough for the victory.
Cleveland scored two runs on three hits in the eighth inning. Leadoff hitter Michael Brantley got the action started with single to shallow left field. Jason Kipnis followed that up with a single to shallow right, which put Brantley on third base and set up the scoring opportunity for the Indians.
Asdrubal Cabrera doubled to right and brought in Brantley, then Kipnis scored on a passed ball. There was nothing doing in the ninth, so it went into extras.

Ron Washington's Texas Rangers will look to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday, as the Rangers take on the Cleveland Indians in the second game of a three-game set.
The Rangers have been in a bit of a funk lately, dropping two of three to Tampa Bay last weekend before dropping two of three to the Toronto Blue Jays to start off this week. Texas dropped the first game of the three-game set against the Indians last night as well.
Derek Holland starts on Saturday for the Rangers, as they look to get back to their winning ways. Holland has not pitched well lately, giving up 12 runs in 13 innings in his last two starts, with a pedestrian six walks and nine strikeouts in those 13 innings. Still, Holland is 2-2 on the year, and will look to lower his 5.13 ERA and 1.26 WHIP against the Indians on Saturday.
Texas' bats will face off against sinkerballer Derek Lowe. Despite walking more than he's struck out on the season (10 walks, nine strikeouts in 31.2 innings), Lowe sports a 2.27 ERA and 4-1 record. Lowe's WHIP and BAA are high as well, at 1.42 and .282, respectively. Since Lowe fails to miss bats, the Rangers should be putting the ball in play plenty on Saturday night.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. from Progressive Field in Cleveland. Televised coverage can be found on Fox Sports Southwest.

After dominating their opponents for the majority of the first month of the season, the Texas Rangers have started May off on the wrong foot registering their first losing streak of the year following a 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Friday night. The Rangers have now lost their last three games and have dropped five of their last seven.
Rangers' pitcher Colby Lewis (3-1) was handed his first loss of the season when he allowed six runs on 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings pitched against the Indians. He gave up two homeruns; a two-run shot by Shin-Soo Choo in the the second to open the scoring and a solo shot by Jack Hannahan in the third.
Lewis' adversary, Jeanmar Gomez (2-1) registered his second win on the season by holding the offensively potent Rangers to only three runs on eight hits in seven innings pitched.
Johnny Damon and Choo both had a game-high two RBI, which helped power the Tribe to the win. The two teams will pick back up tomorrow night for game two.
