The Texas Rangers currently have a five-game lead over the Oakland Athletics in the AL West.

The Texas Rangers have build up sizable five-game lead in the AL West at the quarter point of the 2012 MLB season, and despite being on a minor slump where they have gone 6-6 over their last 12 games they still have a commanding lead over second place Oakland Athletics.

The second through fourth spots are where the West is close as the difference between second place and fourth place is only 3.5 games. It is still very early in the season, but the Rangers look to be on their way to another AL West title.

Moving beyond just the AL West, the Rangers have the second best record in the American League and the third-best record in the Majors.
