Rangers Vs. Royals: Texas Falls to KC 3-1 In Series-Opener

In a battle of red-hot teams, the Royals took down Texas 3-1 in the first game of a two-game series on Monday night.

Scott Feldman got the start for Texas and gave up just one hit through the first four innings. But things unraveled in the fifth. Feldman gave up two unearned runs in the fifth and was pulled. Kansas City tacked on another run in the seventh and the Texas bats were quiet all night.

The only run was scored on a solo homer from Nelson Cruz in the fourth. Kansas City starter Bruce Chen gave up five hits over 6 2/3 innings, and a combination of four KC relievers threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

No Ranger had multiple hits. Josh Hamilton went 1-for-3, while Adrian Beltre and Cruz went 1-for-4. The Rangers had won five of seven coming into Monday, while the Royals had won four of their previous five.
