Yu Darvish threw 8 1/3 scoreless innings and left to a standing ovation as the Rangers shut out the Yankees 2-0 Tuesday night in Arlington.
Darvish gave up seven hits and struck out 10 Yankees to move to 3-0 on the season. Of Darvish's 119 pitches, 82 were thrown for strikes. Joe Nathan threw a perfect 2/3 of an inning to pick up the save.
The Rangers struck early when Ian Kinsler led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run. Kinsler went 1-for-3. Texas' second run came on an RBI single from Josh Hamilton in the bottom of the third inning to score Elvis Andrus. Hamilton went 1-for-4.
No Ranger had multiple hits, but Darvish held the Yankees in check all night. New York did load the bases with no outs in the top of the third, but Darvish got a strikeout and double-play to leave without any damage. Darvish would only allow two runners to reach second base for the rest of the game.
