Texas lost another member of its 2012 team to the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, as Koji Uehara signed a one-year contract to call Fenway Park home in 2013.
Another day, another members of the 2012 Texas Rangers headed to New England.
Koji Uehara and the Boston Red Sox agreed to terms on a one-year contract, worth $4.25 million dollars. Earlier this week, the Red Sox signed former Rangers catcher Mike Napoli to a three-year, $39 million dollar deal, as well as Shane Victorino to a three-year, $39 million dollar deal.
Uehara should be a solid member of Boston's bullpen -- and the price is certainly right. Though Uehara only pitched 36 innings for the Rangers this season, they, primarily, excellent innings. Uehara struck out 43 while walking just three batters, and allowing 20 hits. Those numbers translate into a 0.64 WHIP.
With Uehara out of the picture, Texas' bullpen, as expected, will look much different in 2013. Texas signed Joakim Soria to a two-year deal, with an option for a third year, earlier this week. Unfortunately for the Rangers, Soria probably won't be around at the start of the season, as the former Royals closer is still recovering from his second Tommy John surgery.
