Rangers vs. A's: Ryan Dempster pulled in fourth inning

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Ryan Dempster was pulled in the fourth inning against the Oakland A's on Wednesday. He had already allowed two runs on a walk and three hits in the inning, recording no outs.

Dempster was removed in the bottom of the fourth inning after allowing a Seth Smith single that scored Josh Reddick. Left-hander Derek Holland was brought on in relief and retired the first two batters he faced, but then allowed a two-run double to Coco Crisp that tied the game at 5-5. All five runs were charged to Dempster.

The Texas Rangers had taken a 5-1 lead in the top of the third inning before allowing six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Oakland A's currently hold a 7-5 lead in the top of the fifth inning.

The winner of this afternoon's game will win the American League West; the A's have won the first two games of the series.
