Orioles could have interest in Scott Feldman

Versatile Rangers pitcher Scott Feldman could head to Baltimore over the off season if the team declines his contract option.

The Baltimore Orioles could potentially be interested in Rangers pitcher Scott Feldman over the off season. Baltimore made the postseason for the first time in a long time in 2012, but was dropped out of the first round. The O's have a few holes, including a few needs for a starting pitcher and a long reliever. Feldman could potentially be an answer at one or both of those positions.

The Rangers hurler has played 204 appearances in his career, with half of those coming as a starting pitcher and half of them coming out of the bullpen. He has a $9.25 million option this off season that the Rangers are likely to decline due to his good but not great services as a pitcher -- his best season was way back in 2009. He went 6-11 in the 2012 season.

Reportedly, O's manager Buck Showalter, who was the manager that gave him his first start in 2005, is a fan of Feldman's. That alone could be enough for them to take a flyer on Feldman, likely for a reduced contract amount, in 2013.
