Stay connected for news and updates

Ron Washington has coached up the young talent and savvy veterans that make up the Texas Rangers to the World Series for two years in a row. For his hard work and dedication, the Rangers have extended his contract through the 2014 season.

Rangers general manager John Daniels hired Washington back in 2007 in five seasons under "Uncle Ron's" tutelage the Rangers win percentage has climbed higher every year. Daniels reflected on the hire and the expectations that were ahead for Washington at the time.

"When Wash joined us, he came in right as we were starting a rebuilding program," general manager Jon Daniels said. "It was something he embraced whole-heartedly. Some guys might not have wanted to sign up for a long-term program, but he dove right in.

Whatever you may think about Ron Washington, the proof is in the pudding. He gets his team ready to win and they play hard for him. He's now one of the most respected managers in the game and he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
