Rangers Vs. Royals: Derek Holland Takes On Luke Hochevar

The Texas Rangers look for a quick two-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals tonight as Derek Holland takes the mound against Kansas City right hander Luke Hochevar

The Rangers managed to beat the Royals last night 5-4, but needed 11 innings to come away with the win after Neftali Feliz blew the save in the ninth inning.

Derek Holland will look to earn his first win in nearly a month (April 22) - and look to turn in his second consecutive quality start. Holland lasted only six innings against the Angels in his last start, but only allowed two runs on six hits while walking three and striking out four. Holland will look to be more economical with his pitches tonight as Texas looks for the brief two-game sweep of Kansas City.

Former first-round draft pick Luke Hochevar will face off against Holland and the Rangers tonight. Hochevar is pitching well, to the tune of a 1.20 WHIP and .243 BAA this year, despite a 4.87 ERA.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. CDT.

Rangers Vs. Royals: Texas Opens Up Two Game Set Against Kansas City

After splitting a two game set in Chicago against the White Sox, the Texas Rangers are headed to Missouri to take on the Kansas City Royals

Alexi Ogando is set to take the mound on Wednesday night as he looks to improve to 5-0 on the young season. Ogando has been nothing short of magnificent for the Rangers this year, with a 4-0 record, 2.06 ERA, .89 WHIP with 32 strikeouts in 43.2 innings of work this year. Ogando has been plagued by blister problems this year as well, but he has made the transition from reliever to starter better than anybody could have imagined.

Ogando will be opposed by Danny Duffy for the Royals. It will be the first start of Duffy's major league career. Duffy made seven starts with the Omaha Royals (AAA), going 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA, .227 batting average against, with 43 strikeouts in 36 innings of work. Despite the fact that Duffy is a lefty, he's been more effective against right handed batters in the minors this year, holding RHB to a .208 batting average. Luckily for Duffy, he'll be making his debut against a neutered Rangers lineup as Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz remain on the disabled list.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. CDT.
