Martin Perez Pitches Rain Shortened Perfect Game

Stay connected for news and updates

Top Rangers prospect Martin Perez pitched a perfect game last night for Texas' AA affiliate, the Frisco RoughRiders.Granted, the game was called off due to rain after five innings, but it's a perfect game in the books nonetheless.

Perez faced the minimum through five innings, obviously allowing no hits and issuing no walks. He struck out three in the five perfect innings of work. Perez' pitch count was at 67, so at that pace, Perez would have thrown roughly 120 pitches for nine innings.

Perez retired top Los Angeles Angels prospect Mike Trout twice in the contest en route to his perfecto.
