College Football Rankings: Texas And TCU Stand Pat In Coaches Poll

The 2012 season opened with a busy and exciting weekend of college football over the Labor Day weekend, but not so much in the Lone Star State, where TCU had a bye week and Texas might as well have.

Neither schools rank changed in the newest coaches' poll, with the Longhorns still at No. 15 after a 37-17 defeat of Wyoming and the idle Horned Frogs two spots behind them.

Baylor's dominating 59-24 victory over SMU, meanwhile, has pushed the Bears to the edge of the Top 25, with Nick Florence looking like a more than capable replacement for RG3. Baylor is now third in the others receiving votes category, behind only Washington and BYU.

If the Bears do jump into the poll next week, they would be the seventh school in the ten-team Big 12 to be ranked: Oklahoma, after an unexpectedly tough win over UTEP, slipped to No. 5 while conference newcomer West Virginia is at No. 8, Oklahoma State checks in at No. 16 and Kansas State stays on the board at No. 20.

All of the attention is currently at the powerhouse teams at the top of the polls, but it's looking like the Big 12 could have the most entertaining conference race in the country this year.
