Texas vs. Oklahoma State: Status of Cowboys' quarterback unclear

The status of Oklahoma State quarterback Wes Lunt for Saturday's showdown with the No. 12 Texas Longhorns is still uncertain. OSU coach Mike Gundy has hinted that Lunt may return to practice before the Texas game, but it still appears doubtful that he'll be able to play. J.W. Walsh would be leading the Cowboy attack if Lunt is unable to play.

For the OSU offensive line, it really doesn't seem to matter who is under center. Lane Taylor was asked about what would change if Walsh makes the start, and he had the following to say (via The Oklahoman):

They just tell us to block, and we just block. It doesn't really change much of what we do. They just call the play, and we try to perform.

Running back Jeremy Smith didn't seem to feel the potential change would make much difference to the running attack either, as evidenced by his comment:

We're pretty much just like, give us the ball.

If Walsh is called on to start, it will be the first of his career. The freshman quarterback has thrown for 496 yards and six touchdowns while backing up Lunt this season, and has generally looked very good when he's been on the field. The Cowboys will host the Longhorns at 6:50 p.m. CT on Saturday.
