Top 25 Rankings Changes: Texas Longhorns Looking To Move Up

The Texas Longhorns could rise in the Top 25 rankings after an impressive 37-17 win in their season opener against Wyoming. Texas running backs Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown both eclipsed 100 yards on the ground in the victory. The win also marked 13 straight victories for UT in their season opener.

All eight Big 12 teams that played this weekend won their opening match, creating a massive tie atop the current standings after one game. Baylor and TCU both have yet to play.

Oklahoma is the only BIg 12 team ahead of the Longhorns in both the AP and USA Today Top 25. In their first game of the season, the Sooners topped UTEP 24-7.

Texas Vs. Wyoming: Burnt Orange Nation Reaction

In the aftermath of Texas' hard-fought 37-17 victory over Wyoming, Burnt Orange Nation showed some love for Longhorns halfback Malcolm Brown:

He dropped a high but catchable ball that would have converted a first down, but that was the only blemish on an otherwise stellar night from the sophomore. Brown's quick feet, excellent vision and feel, and ability to accelerate and get to the edge were on full display on Texas' first touchdown drive of the game, when Brown provided the spark that got the Longhorns offense going for the first time.

BON was also impressed with the performance of quarterback David Ash:

The ability to make some plays downfield is the last key ingredient still missing, but in every other regard Ash was everything Texas hoped and needed for him to be. He was efficient, mistake-free (the fumble seemed more a bad snap), and gave the Longhorns offense enough through the air to let the ground game do the rest.

The Longhorns face New Mexico next Saturday at 7:00 p.m. CT, with television coverage on the Longhorn Network.

Wyoming Vs. Texas 2012: Final Score And Game Recap

The No. 15 Texas Longhorns beat the Wyoming Cowboys 37-17 on Saturday night in a solid, workman-like performance against a good opening-week opponent.

The Longhorns vowed to commit to a balanced offensive attack in 2012 with a focus on a powerful rushing attack led by Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown. After some uneven performances in the first quarter, the Longhorns rode that philosophy to a near-dominant win over the Cowboys, who brought some stiff competition to Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

The Cowboys jumped to a 9-7 lead in the first quarter before the Longhorns scored 17 unanswered points in the second, with Nick Jordan connecting on a 31-yard field goal in the final seconds of the half to give Texas a 24-9 lead at halftime.

After Wyoming closed the gap to 31-17 late in the third quarter and forced a turnover thanks to a mishandled snap by David Ash, the Longhorns defense stood tall and kept the game from ever really being in doubt in the second half.

Brown and Bergeron combined to rush for 215 yards on 29 carries, with Bergeron scoring twice and Brown once. Ash was masterful in his game-management role, going 20-of-27 for 156 yards and one touchdown pass, taking care to not make any costly mistakes through the air for the Longhorns.

Texas takes on New Mexico on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. CT on The Longhorn Network.

Wyoming Vs. Texas 2012: Game Time, TV Schedule, Spread And More

Texas and Wyoming both finished with 8-5 records in 2011, and both teams will want to improve that in 2012 as they face off against each other in the first game of the season.

As they did last season, Texas will ride on the two QB tandem of David Ash and Case McCoy as the season progresses. Ash has been named the starter for the first game but McCoy will likely feature as well. Wyoming might have the better QB situation coming into the game, with duel threat Brett Smith manning the helm for the team, but Texas have the superior defense and running game. An upset by the Cowboys at Texas Memorial Stadium is not expected.

The game will be seen by a lot more eyes than it was expected to after AT&T uVerse signed a deal to host the Longhorn Network, which will provide a wide expansion of coverage for the game.

Game time, TV channel: 7 p.m. CT, Longhorn Network

Point spread: Texas favored by 29 points.

Longhorn Network, AT&T U Verse Reach Deal, SB Nation Reports

Texas' first game of the season against the Wyoming Cowboys will now be more widely available for viewing, as AT&T uVerse has reached a deal to carry the University of Texas-based Longhorn Network. Saturday's game against the Cowboys will be shown exclusively on the LHN, and coverage of the network was very spotty prior to signing the deal.

SB Nation's own Barking Carnival originally broke the news of the deal's completion, while Burnt Orange Nation provided more shortly afterward. The station will not only be showing Saturday's game against Wyoming but also the following game against New Mexico as well as potentially a third game later in the season.

AT&T's service has 6.8 million subscribers in 22 states, exponentially increasing the number of people who are available to see the network -- prior to the pairing with AT&T, it was hard to find it on TV even in Texas.
