A consensus has been reached on a four-team playoff system in college football.
College football fans might finally have found what they're looking for: a playoff system to determine the national champion. According to SI's Stewart Mandel, a consensus has been reached on a four-team playoff, but there's still details to be ironed out.

Per Mandel, presidents will have the opportunity to discuss alternative options still, which include a plus-one system.
Specifics are unknown still, but it's a major step forward for college football. It is also unknown how it will work in conjunction with the current BCS system and bowl games.
Mike Silve, who was hoping to reach a consensus on Thursday, is "delighted" that a consensus has been reached.
