Guard Sterling Gibbs Transfers From Texas To Seton Hall

Stay connected for news and updates

Former Texas Longhorns men's basketball guard Sterling Gibbs made his transfer to another school official Thursday, as he committed to the Seton Hall Pirates. Gibbs, the younger brother of Pittsburgh Panthers star guard Ashton Gibbs, will now try to make his mark on the Big East Conference after playing just one season for the Longhorns.

The 6-foot-1 guard played sparingly for Texas in his first collegiate season, and will now go and try to fill the void of Pirates' point guard Jordan Theodore.

"I’ve had a great year at Texas," Gibbs said in a statement released by the university. "I’ve improved as a basketball player and as a person during my time here. If my decision had to do with basketball only, I would not be leaving Texas. But my decision is family-related and involves more than basketball."

Gibbs will be try to get a hardship waiver for the NCAA to make him eligible for the 2012-13 season
