Texas Vs. Texas A&M: Game Preview, TV Info And More

With Texas A&M's move to the SEC at the end of the season, every meeting between the two largest public schools in the state has become historic, as no one knows when the Aggies will play their arch-rivals in Austin again.

Monday night in College Station, barring a re-match in the Big 12 Tournament, Texas plays Texas A&M for the last time in men's basketball for the foreseeable future.

In recent years, the rivalry on the hard-wood has caught up with the one on the gridiron, as both schools have enjoyed unprecedented success, with Texas A&M appearing in the last six NCAA Tournaments while Texas has made 13 in a row. None was bigger and more dramatic than 2007, when a veteran Aggie squad led by future first round pick Acie Law III came into Austin and lost to Kevin Durant's young team in a 2OT shootout.

The stakes aren't nearly as high in 2012, as NBA defections and injuries have given both teams sub-.500 records in conference play.

However, 13-9 Texas still has an outside shot at the NCAA Tournament if they can take care of business against the bottom half of the Big 12, while 12-10 Texas A&M would love nothing more than to knock their arch-rival out of post-season play.

The two schools met earlier this year in Austin, with the Longhorns pulling out a close 61-51 game thanks to freshman guard Julian Lewis' 16 points off the bench.

Khris Middleton, the Aggies star forward, kept them in the game with 19 points, but he is on the shelf once again with a knee problem that has been bothering him all season long.

The 8:00 PM game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
