Texas got a much needed win against a hapless Texas Tech team on Saturday night as they try to begin a back-door push at an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.
Neither the Texas Longhorns or Texas Tech Red Raiders are having a good shooting day as Texas is shooting only 34 percent of their shots while Texas Tech is making an even lower percentage at 28.
Even with both teams shooting so poorly Texas is still leading 40-25 at the half since they are 17 of 22 from the free throw line compared to Texas Tech who has made only 3 of 7.
Texas does have two players who have scored double figures at the first half in Clint Chapman who has scored 12 points and J'Covan Brown who has 11 points. Those are the only two players from either team to be in double figures. If Texas can improve off of their poor first half shooting they should easily walk away with a victory against Texas Tech.

After a brutal six-game stretch that saw the Texas Longhorns go 1-5 while playing four games against top 10 teams, the Big 12 schedule gets easier when they host the Texas Tech Red Raiders Saturday night.
Tech, in their first year under former Texas A&M and Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie, has gone 7-14, including 0-9 in Big 12 play.
The Red Raiders have only one player, 6'7 210 forward Jordan Tolbert of Fort Worth, averaging in double digits. In four road conference road games, the closest they've come is a 67-59 loss to Oklahoma State.
However, while their poor record could be a nice breather for a Texas team that came up short in the last two minutes against No. 4 Missouri, No. 6 Baylor and No. 8 Kansas, it also makes Texas Tech a dangerous land mine.
Without a signature win on their resume, the Longhorns can't afford a bad loss like the Red Raiders if they want to have any chance of extending Rick Barnes school-record streak of 13 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
The 7:00 PM game will be televised regionally on the Longhorn Network.
Texas Vs. Texas Tech Final Score: Longhorns End Two Game Losing Streak Against Red Raiders, 74-57
The Texas Longhorns broke out of their slump where they have lost two games in a row and five of their last six games by dominating the Texas Tech Red Raiders 74-57. Texas improved their poor first half shooting from 34 percent to 43 percent which was enough to counter Texas Tech who also drastically improved their shooting in the second half.
Texas was led by Clint Chapman who scored 20 points, had nine rebounds and five blocks on Saturday night. J'Covan Brown and Sheldon McClellan also contributed in the scoring as each scored 17 points.
The main reason that Texas was able to blow out Texas Texas was due to free throw shooting where Texas went to the line 31 times and made 25 while Texas Tech had 14 attempts and made nine.
The win for Texas puts them at 14-9 overall and 4-6 in Big 12 play, and the loss for Texas Tech drops them to 0-10 in the Big 12.
