Alamo Bowl 2012: Longhorns win 31-27

USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Longhorns scored two late touchdowns to win in a comeback thriller over Oregon State in the 2012 Alamo Bowl.

David Ash threw two fourth quarter touchdowns and Alex Okafor exploded with 4.5 sacks to lead the Texas Longhorns to a 31-27 comeback win over the Oregon State Beavers in the 2012 Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.

The Texas offense struggled for the better part of the first half and well into the third quarter, as the Beavers built a 20-10 lead before the break. The Longhorns pulled back to within one score after Ash's 11-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter, yet the quarterback tossed an interception on Texas' next drive to give Oregon State another 10-point lead.

The Longhorns would truly come alive in the fourth quarter, however, with Ash connecting with Johnathan Gray and Marquise Goodwin on back-to-back drives to take a 31-27 lead with just 2:24 remaining. Oregon State's comeback hopes fell short, thanks to Okafor's fourth sack of the night on fourth-and-14.

The Longhorns forced three turnovers and held Oregon State to just 303 yards of offense overall. Beavers running back Storm Woods rushed for 119 yards on 21 carries while quarterback Cody Vaz was held to 194 yards passing and two interceptions.
