Alamo Bowl 2012: Texas vs. Oregon State odds and lines

Oregon State is just over a field goal favorite against Texas in the Alamo Bowl.

The 2012 Alamo Bowl between the Oregon St. Beavers and Texas Longhorns opened up with the Beavers being one-point favorite over the Longhorns. That line has since moved even more toward No. 15 Oregon State, as they now are a 3.5-point favorite over Texas.

The change in line could possibly have been due to the schools playing musical chairs with their quarterback situation this year, and finally naming starting quarterbacks a week ahead of the game. For this game, Oregon State will start Cody Vaz, and Texas will have David Ash under center to begin the game.

Both quarterbacks have seen plenty of playing time, including multiple starts, so this is not a situation where either team is going to a less-experienced quarterback. There is a possibility that Oregon State's Sean Mannion and Texas' Case McCoy could see action in this game.

If the coaches do decide to swap their quarterbacks during the game, it could have an effect on the over/under, which is currently 57.5 points. That is down after the opening number was 60.
