Texas vs. Kansas State odds: Wildcats heavily favored to bounce back

Ronald Martinez

Despite a 52-24 loss in the team's last game, the Kansas State Wildcats are big favorites against Texas.

While it's clear that the national title hopes for the No. 6 Kansas State Wildcats are dashed, the team still needs to finish business and defeat the Texas Longhorns on Saturday to ensure that it is the Big 12 representative in the Fiesta Bowl, instead of Oklahoma. According to OddsShark, K-State are 11 1/2-point favorites against the Longhorns to do exactly that.

The Wildcats have not had a game since a 52-24 drubbing at the hands of Baylor that knocked Kansas State from the top of the BCS rankings and out of national title contention. During the off week, Texas also had a winning streak snapped as its attempt at a fifth straight win came up short against TCU, 20-13. Prior to that, the Longhorns had earned a four consecutive wins, including a 56-50 victory against Baylor.

Particularly important for Texas will be the defense's attempts to stop Collin Klein. Once considered the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, Klein struggled and threw three interceptions against Baylor. The Texas defense has struggled against several teams, although it has played relatively well as of late.

The game at Turf of Snyder Family Stadium is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday.
