Texas vs. Kansas State: Longhorns to start Case McCoy at QB against Wildcats

Searching for their ninth win of the season, the Texas Longhorns will face Heisman contender Collin Klein and Kansas State on Saturday.

Following a tough loss to TCU on Thanksgiving, Mack Brown's Texas Longhorns will gear up for their biggest test of the season this Saturday with a date against the No. 6 Kansas State Wildcats.

The Longhorns were forced to play without starting quarterback David Ash for much of the TCU game due to a rib injury, leaving the sophomore with a questionable distinction hanging over his head heading into Week 14. While it is unclear if Ash will see the field against a Kansas State team that will enter looking to clinch a Big 12 title, Carter Strickland of ESPN.com reported that the Longhorns have already named junior Case McCoy as their starting quarterback against Kansas State.

McCoy finished 11-for-17 with 110 yards passing after replacing Ash, and has played somewhat sporadically in 2012 after seeing the field with much more consistency as a sophomore. The 6'2, 200-pound junior still has a long way to go in order to be mentioned in the same breath as his adversary on Saturday, Kansas State's Heisman Trophy contender Collin Klein. Klein has already tallied 34 touchdowns this season for the Wildcats through 11 games, and will enter his regular season finale full determined to sway voters one last time with a defining performance.
