A young Longhorns team will try to take advantage of a slate of easy non-conference games over the next two weeks.

After defeating UCLA 69-59, the Texas Longhorns men's basketball team begins an easy stretch of home non-conference games Tuesday against Texas-Arlington before a road game at No. 6 North Carolina on Dec. 21.

The 7:00 PM game will be televised regionally on The Longhorn Network.

Under sixth-year head coach Scott Cross, Texas-Arlington returns the vast majority of last season's 13-16 team. The Mavericks leading scorers are both upperclassmen: 6'5 senior forward LaMarcus Reed III at 14 points a game and 6'5 junior forward Kevin Butler at 12.5 points a game.

In contrast, Texas' rotation is comprised mostly of their six-man recruiting class, with leading scorer J'Covan Brown and senior post players Alexis Wangmene and Clint Chapman the only returning upperclassmen.

Three of the Longhorns freshmen, 6'7 forward Jonathan Holmes, 6'4 shooting guard Sheldon McClellan and 6'1 point guard Myck Kabongo, average over 10 points a game for Rick Barnes.

The game tonight begins a stretch of four home games against unranked opponents while the freshmen take their exams for the fall semester.
