Kansas struck first on a Ron Doherty 37-yard field goal that made it 3-0 at the 8:45 mark of the first quarter. The Horned Frogs answered on a Brandon Carter eight-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Casey Pachall to give the Horned Frogs the lead with 4:20 remaining in the first. Doherty closed the gap to 7-6 with a 22-yard field goal with a little over three minutes remaining in the first half before the Horned Frogs' Jaden Oberkrom added a 37-yard field goal near the closing of the half to end the half's scoring.
Both quarterbacks have played efficient football. Pachall is 11 of 14 for 125 yards and a touchdown while Kansas quarterback Dayne Crist is 9 of 12 for 117 yards and an interception.
The defenses have been the story as the Horned Frogs have already surrendered two fumbles and Crist threw his interception for Kansas.
The Horned Frogs are playing in their first-ever Big 12 conference game.
