In a sympathetic profile on SI.com, Andy Staples has an in-depth look at the state of the TCU football program in the month since a drug sting that implicated four football players and became national news.
↵TCU football coach Gary Patterson described himself as shocked at the turn of events but felt that the school had been unfairly portrayed in the media:
↵↵↵"I didn't think that was a fair shake," he said. "Not for the four kids that screwed up, but for the 90 percent of the kids that are trying to do it right. ... It blows up just because it's college athletics. TCU, we've been on a string where everything we did just happened to turn out right. Then when you finally have something go wrong, everybody wants to jump on it. But that's OK."
↵
The Horned Frogs have wanted to be in the BCS for years and now they're in the show for better or worse.
↵As Patterson will soon understand, at this level of the game no one will care about the scandal if he continues winning and no one will care about his excuses if he does not.
