TCU advances to the second round of the CBI Tournament with a 83-73 win over Milwaukee. The Horned Frogs took a 38-30 lead at halftime and were able to pull away late for the win. TCU will play the winner of the Oregon State-Western Illinois matchup that takes place on Wednesday.
Craig Williams and Amric Fields scored 15 points to lead the Horned Frogs. Hank Thorns added 13 while J.R. Cadot and Garlon Green finished with 11 each. Nate Butler rounded out TCU scorers in double figures with 10.
Tony Meier led Milwaukee with 18 points while James Haarsma added 17. Kaylon Williams added 14 points off the bench in the loss.
TCU improves to 18-14 on the season while Milwaukee drops to 20-14.
Although a late-season run that featured several wins against ranked Mountain West Conference opponents wasn't enough to get TCU into the NCAA's or the NIT, they were able to make a post-season berth with a spot in the 2012 CBI Tournament.
The Horned Frogs will face the Milwaukee Panthers in the opening round on Tuesday, March 13.
The game will tip off at 7:00 PM at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Ft. Worth. Although it will not be televised, you can listen to the live play-by-play at 88.7 FM (KTCU).
