US PRESSWIRE

It was all defense during the first quarter until Landry Jones hit Damien Williams to give the Oklahoma Sooners an early 7-0 lead over the TCU Horned Frogs.

The No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners and TCU Horned Frogs are locked in a defensive showdown as the Sooner lead 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Both teams' defenses dominated much of the opening quarter, forcing punts on the first five possessions of the game. The Sooners used a bad punt and penalty to put themselves in in scoring position. First, TCU punter Ethan Perry kicked the ball just 21 yards before it sailed out of bounds, setting up the Sooners at their own 44 yard line. On the next play, the Horned Frogs were flagged for a pass interference, which move the ball in to TCU territory.

After Landry Jones hit Trey Millard for a ten yard completion, the Sooners running game took over. Brennan Clay rushed for two consecutive nine yard rushes. Two plays later, Jones hit running back Damien Miller out of the backfield for an 11 yard touchdown pass.

The Sooners can clinch the Big 12 championship with a win and a Kansas St. loss to Texas.
