The TCU Horned Frogs stepped up their defensive effort in the second quarter, but trail the Kansas State Wildcats by the score of 13-0 at halftime on Saturday night.

The Horned Frogs couldn't close the gap against the No. 2 Wildcats, however, as an injury to Trevone Boykin disrupted anything TCU tried offensively. Boykin went to the locker room late in the first quarter with an apparent shoulder injury and didn't return until there were just a few minutes left in the second quarter. The offense sputtered under Matt Brown in his absence.

Upon Boykin's return, he threw two incomplete passes and an interception that set up Kansas State for a field goal try as time expired; the kick was missed.

TCU's defense stepped up the pressure, holding Collin Klein and company to just 26 yards of offense in the quarter. Even after Deante' Gray fumbled a punt at TCU's five-yard line--fielding punts with Skye Dawson on the sideline with a hurt back--the Frogs pushed Kansas State back and held them to a field goal.

Through one half, Boykin was 4-10 in the passing game for 27 yards. Matthew Tucker leads all TCU rushers with 25 yards.
