Former Texas Longhorns quarterback Garrett Gilbert is going to have two years of eligibility with the SMU Mustangs, since he has been approved by the NCAA for an injury waiver, according to Max Olson of ESPN.com.

At SMU, Gilbert will have a chance to work with quarterback guru and Mustangs head coach June Jones who is known for rarely running the ball.
Gilbert is considered one of the biggest disappointments in recent memory since he bombed it at Texas with all of those expectations, before having shoulder surgery last fall and being released from his scholarship on October 5. In his time with the Longhorns, Gilbert threw 13 touchdowns and 23 interceptions in three seasons, and he only appeared to get progressively worse there.
