The West Virginia QB put up a jaw-dropping aerial display on Saturday.
Geno Smith completed 45-51 passes for 656 (!) yards, 8 (!!) TD's and 0 (!!!) INT's on Saturday.
For all intents and purposes, the West Virginia QB threw a perfect game against Baylor. As ESPN's Rod Gilmore noted after the game, guys don't put up those types of stats against air, much less a D1 defense. The fact that this same crew had SMU down 38-3 at one point becomes more hilarious each week.
Smith and Nick Florence put up Arena Football statistics on Saturday, but the 70-63 game was so far removed from traditional football that the best comparison may not be within the sport.
The game was like a tennis match where each QB needed to hold serve by scoring a TD on every possession. Giving up anything less than 7 points was a resounding victory for either defense.
Smith now heads to Austin as the front-runner in the Heisman race for a showdown with Texas that will be one the highlights of Week 6.
