The Cowboys paid Brandon Carr $50 million to be a shut-down CB this off-season.

However, three games into his stint in Dallas and the plan may already be changing, as he spent a lot of time during their 16-10 victory over the Bucs at safety after Barry Church tore his knee.

Over at SB Nation Kansas City, Matt Conner, who covered Carr when he was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, isn't sure this is the best idea:

It will be interesting to see how the Cowboys use Carr going forward and whether they're willing to allow their $50 million investment suddenly switch positions and lose the natural instincts and experience he's developed at corner. He was brought in to be a strength, but now it could be to plug the leak. That's an expensive tag for a fix.

While it may not be an optimal use of resources, Dallas may not have a better Plan B now that they are down to their second-string safeties.

After all, Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick are making an awful lot of money to be nickel and dime CB's right now and that isn't the best use of resources either.
