FC Dallas Well Represented On Jurgen Klinsmann's Revamped US Roster

Jurgen Klinsmann will look to develop squad depth during a US Soccer National Team training camp that will last for most of January. The national team will only play once during the period - a home game in Arizona against Venezuela on January 21 - but the roster is filled with a guys who aren't a part of the national team's core but do have a good shot at being selected as the US begins their World Cup qualification process later in the year.

Among the 20 players named by Klinsmann are three members of FC Dallas - Brek Shea, George John and Zach Loyd. Shea has already received extensive time on the flank in the young Klinsmann era. The German clearly likes him, but Shea has been up and down, showing flashes of brilliance and disappearing for long stretches. Shea will try to show Klinsmann that he deserves consideration for a starting lineup that will also include fellow Texan Clint Dempsey up front.

John is another intriguing prospect for Klinsmann. He has the height (6'3") and skill to garner interest from Blackburn Rovers (a club that has developed some quality defenders in recent years) of the English Premier League, but he's still with Dallas for now. At 24 he still has the ability to choose the US or Greece and has trained with each squad. One of Klinsmann's primary goals as US manager has been to successfully recruit the kinds of dual citizen stars that, like Giuseppe Rossi and Neven Subotic, the US has recently lost to European powers. John isn't that caliber of player, but he could develop into a key defender for the US.

Loyd, an Oklahoman, was Dallas' first rounder last year and has already played two seasons with the club. He's also appeared once at left back - a potential problem spot against higher level competition - for the national team and played well.
