NHL Mock Draft: Brendan Gaunce To The Dallas Stars

Stay connected for news and updates

Another day, another NHL mock draft. On Monday, we posted a mock draft here at SB Nation Dallas that had the Dallas Stars selecting defenseman Morgan Rielly. On Tuesday, we posted a mock that had the Stars taking defenseman Olli Maatta.

Well, we've got another mock draft for you -- and this time, it's from The Sports Network. It's also a bit of a curveball for Stars fans expecting the team to take a defenseman, as the The Sports Network has the Stars selecting center Brendan Gaunce with the No. 13 overall pick in the draft.

The Stars have a big whole in the middle left by the departure of Brad Richards and Gaunce has the size to fill it. Considered by many to be the best power forward available at this year's draft, Gaunce is a gritty and talented prospect.

For what it's worth, both Rielly and Maatta in this particular mock draft are off the board by the time the Stars even select, with Rielly going to the Wild at No. 7, and Maatta to the Lightning at No. 10.
