The Stars need to complete a season sweep of the Oilers to keep pace in a Pacific Division race that's coming down to the wire.
Another day, another battle to stay alive in the NHL Playoff race: The Dallas Stars are a point shy of the Pacific Division title, currently held by San Jose, but also a point shy of being out of the playoff picture entirely. With 87 points, Dallas enters Wednesday's game against Edmonton in the No. 7 seed, with San Jose travelling to 12th place Anaheim and Phoenix (87 points, No. 8 seed) idle.
The Stars can certainly help their standing by completing a season sweep of the Oilers, whom they've outscored 11-3 in three previous meetings. It's also the easiest game remaining for the Stars - they'll play two against San Jose, and three against top five teams in the Western Conference (Nashville, Vancouver, St. Louis).
